Cirrus is a new fogging concentrate insecticide technology from McLaughlin Gormley King Company (MGK) that quickly knocks down and kills crawling and flying insects in tough environments like food handling, processing and warehouse facilities. As an alternative to pyrethrum-based products, Cirrus delivers effective flushing, knockdown and kill at the performance level you would expect from a 3 percent pyrethrum-based fogging concentrate, the company said.

Cirrus features a unique synthetic active ingredient, prallethrin, designed to perform like the botanical extract pyrethrum. Cirrus is dual-synergized and delivers a high level of control of stored product pests, cockroaches, ants, flies, spiders, fleas, and many other crawling and flying pests.

Mettler-Toledo Safeline has introduced a new cost-effective metal detector. Designed for dry processing applications, the Gravity FlowSD metal detector can detect ferrous, non-ferrous and stainless steel contaminants in high-volume, free-flowing powders and granular products, the company said.

Available as a free-standing unit with a reduced footprint or as a suspended unit, it offers 4-, 6- and 8-inch infeed and discharge pipes and high-speed reject-valve to divert contaminated products. Utilizing quick-release clamps, the reject diverter can be dismantled without tools and swung open to allow thorough cleaning of both the throughput pipe and the reject mechanism. An intuitive user interface offers rapid operator training and ease of use for maximum uptime, the company said.

Mettler-Toledo Safeline’s patented “Zero Metal Free Zone” (ZMFZ) technology minimizes the installation space required for easy integration into new or existing lines, the company said. The technology reduces the length needed for the infeed and allows the reject mechanism to be positioned close to the metal detector without metallic interference or false rejects.

The 5700 series is available in galvanized or pre-painted white, lightstone tan and duro-bronze colors. All colors have a white interior prime coat. The doors are available in widths up to 14 feet and heights up to 14 feet, have a 12-inch steel enclosure barrel and come with optional electric operators, the company said.

With the decreased use of pesticides on food, the incidence of damage being done to stored goods is highly increased. As the weather becomes warmer, Indian meal moths and webbing clothes moths begin to emerge from materials left undisturbed or stored in dark places.

In order to monitor your stored products and keep them insect free, contact your distributor about the “Bullet Lure” Pheromone trap. The family of stored product pheromone bullet lures are non-toxic and will assist in keeping areas insect free.
