DuPont Arilon insecticide is now EPA registered, and state approvals are in progress. Arilon water dispersible granules are packaged in biodegradable and compostable Terrene packets which contain a pre-meas-ured amount of product to reduce handling labor and exposure, minimize waste and eliminate the need to triple-rinse prior to disposal. Research shows that Arilon provides excellent control of key ants such as Argentine, Odorous House and Pharaoh, plus cockroaches and nuisance insect pests such as crickets. Prior studies have also shown the active ingredient in Arilon (Indoxacarb) to have "exponential control"; that is, horizontal exchange of the active ingredient can enable it to reach beyond the insect pests that initially came in contact with the treatment. Whether insect pest invasions require interior or exterior treatments, residential or commercial usage, or even crack and crevice applications in food handling establishments, Arilon has a non-repellent chemistry that offers insect pest control across all of these use patterns.

noax Technologies

noax Technologies IPC weighing terminal combines the precision of electronic scales with the capabilities of a robust industrial PC. Using a specially developed weighing controller, the weighing terminal can process results immediately and transmit them to central systems. Two analog weighing platforms or weighbridges can be connected to the weighing terminal. The scales can be connected either with a single range weighing machine with up to 10,000 pieces or a multiple range or multiple divisions weighing machine with up to 2 x 3,000 pieces. The multi-range capable scales feature a number of measuring ranges, with weight calculated through Windows-compatible software. The calibratable scales software with built-in alibi storage enables all weighing to be traced seamlessly over the network. All data can be integrated with an application program using an easy-connect 32bit Windows Software OLE interface, allowing the scales to be controlled directly from the application program. Both calibratable and non-calibratable versions of the weighing terminal are offered. Additional features of the system are its improved ease of use; robust and compact design to protect against extreme mechanical and chemical stresses; and enhanced performance in hardware and service.

Insects Limited

Entomologist David Mueller combines knowledge from a career of experien-ces in his new book, "Reducing Customer Complaints in Stored Products." Knowing a pest is half the battle in controlling it. A lawsuit or product recall over pest issues is often expensive and time consuming. Many times the outcome of litigation will be decided by an understanding of the detailed biology and habits of the pest and the probability of one party having those conditions prompt or cause the complaint. This book provides illustrations, case studies, and practical tips from real-life experiences of a stored product entomologist who has traveled the world during his career helping companies solve customer complaints. Chapters in this 335 page, fully illustrated, hardback book include: Reducing Customer Complaints; Pests Associated with Stored Products; Next Generation Rodent Management; Case Studies, Practical Tips, and Solutions; Organic Pest Management; Pheromones; and Mating Disruption.

tna

tna has introduced its new tna robag 3cat, a vertical form fill and seal packaging technology to provide improved quality, reliability, functionality and bag seal integrity. Developed in response to packaging industry needs, the tna robag 3c enables multiple bag formats from one bagger. The system uses "vertical form fill and seal" (VFFS) packaging technology with few moving parts, resulting in a lower total cost of ownership. The tna robag 3c features the proprietary tna intelli-scan technology to help accurately date code packaging. Through fine-grain image processing and high speed detection, the technology identifies miscoded or non-coded products before distribution. Advanced functionality, such as software that goes into three different standby settings automatically when not in use, decreases energy consumption without sacrificing speed, quality or reliability. The system also incorporates key technical upgrades, including greater operator control and back-seal quality through a "back seal bar"; improved vacuum levels and reduced belt wear via a "Rear Vacuum Drive"/"Front Vacuum Drive"; increased reliability and trouble-free operation due to a new "dancing arm." New systems include tna Intelliflav 2—a flavoring system with patented handling system and even flavor distribution; and tna roflo 3—a transfer and distribution system which reduces product breakage and flavor loss.

Veriteq

"How to Avoid and Respond to Public FDA Criticisms—Warning Letters—for Temperature, Humidity and other Controlled Environments" is now available from Veriteq, a manufacturer of FDA-compliant environmental monitoring, alarming, reporting and temperature/humidity technology. The 10-step guide is designed to help facilities subject to FDA, USDA, HAACP and local health department regulations respond quickly and appropriately to any FDA Warning Letters within the permitted 15-day window. Proper Warning Letter response is critical to help in reputation repair and for real remediation actions to assure public safety. FDA Warning Letters are expected to increase this year, reflecting the FDA’s recent staff expansion and rewrite of the Warning Letter rules to narrow response time to the new 15-day window. If a company receives a Warning Letter it is a matter of public record listed on the FDA’s web site. Veriteq’s guide is intended to help quality departments that have received such public criticism regroup, and give best-practice tips to help FDA-regulated organizations avoid Warning Letters and remedial costs. The guide can be requested at www.veriteq.com or by calling 800/683-8374.

Eriez

en-us.eriez.com

A research study conducted by Penn State University on the pull strength of Rare Earth magnetic tube magnets gave the Eriez line of Xtreme RE magnets its highest rating. The study was commissioned by Eriez to determine which commercial tube magnets provide the greatest opportunity to remove dangerous ferrous metal and weakly magnetic contaminants from process flows in industrial applications. Magnets from nine manufacturers were Gauss tested and subjected to a pull test. The gauss readings were measured using an F.W. Bell Model 6010 Gauss meter with an axial probe. The pull test readings represent the force required to remove a ¼-inch mild steel sphere from the tube surface. Literature highlighting the Penn State University study, "Performance Testing of Rare Earth Magnetic Tube Circuits," is available on the Eriez Website.
