One way to determine how committed a company is to a particular market is to observe whether or not they’re investing in that marketplace. In other words, are they putting their money where their mouth is? Are they walking the talk?
When our readers assess QA magazine’s commitment to the food processing industry, I hope they recognize the ongoing investments we’ve made since entering the marketplace four years ago, whether it be in the form of our in-depth cover stories — including this month’s article about Berner Foods, a leading producer of private label cheese products — or our ongoing investment in high-quality graphics and cutting-edge editorial.
The most recent example of our ongoing investment in the food processing industry is the addition of Assistant Editor Chuck Bowen to our staff. While new to the world of business-to-business publishing, Bowen is an experienced journalist. Prior to joining GIE Media in May, he covered the life sciences industry for The Indianapolis Star and worked for a daily newspaper in Ohio. A graduate of the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University, Bowen will not only write news and feature articles for QA magazine, but he also will contribute regularly to our e-newsletters and Web site, www.qualityassurancemag.com, strengthening the editorial content of both of these important media outlets for QA professionals.
Bowen complements an already strong editorial staff featuring the talents of industry consultant Ole Dosland and Staff Editor Lisa Lupo, another experienced journalist with deep roots in the food processing industry. Both Bowen and Lupo will be attending the 94th Annual Meeting of International Association of Food Protection (IAFP) in Orlando, Fla., next month, so if you plan on attending the show, stop by our booth (#609) and introduce yourself. We would love to learn more about you and your business, as well as how we can improve QA magazine.
“As I get more involved in the industry, I look forward to meeting and speaking with more of our readers,” Bowen said. “The food processing industry is very interesting, and I look forward to learning more about it, and the people in it, during the coming years.”
In the meantime, if you have a news tip or product information you would like to share with QA magazine, Chuck can be reached at cbowen@giemedia.com, or by writing QA magazine, 4020 Kinross Lakes Pkwy., Suite 201, Richfield, OH 44286, 216/925-5072. And by the way, that’s a new address. We recently moved our offices, so please note the address change.
We hope you enjoy this month’s issue of QA magazine. We’ve enjoyed putting it together for you. QA
