Bell Laboratories said it’s estimated that rodents contaminate 20% of the world’s food supply each year. Beyond this, they can infect both consumers and food industry workers with more than 35 diseases. Bell’s 24/7 iQ trap, powered by Bell Sensing Technologies, aims to help.
The 24/7 iQ is a durable, multi-use trap that allows technicians to spend less time checking empty traps and more time solving rodent problems with their expertise, said Bell Labs. 24/7 iQ timestamps rodent activity and uses Bluetooth technology to send rodent activity data to pest control technicians’ phones. A technician can access that data through the free Bell Sensing Portal to identify rodent hotspots and improve their service.
Built from durable, recycled plastic, the 24/7 iQ has a sleek design that can blend into any environment, said the manufacturer. The traps can hold Trapper LTD disposable glueboards for monitoring and fast clean-up.

Whether you need a clean break or are looking for a solution to use as part of your regular sanitation program, chlorine dioxide treatments work in a wide range of food processing environments. Chlorine dioxide treatments can penetrate biofilms, a bacteria film that can form on surfaces over time and lead to the spread of harmful pathogens. Along with biofilm elimination, the chlorine dioxide application process covers the entire treatment area, including challenging areas like floors and drains.
Unlike vapor-based products, chlorine dioxide is applied as a gas. The treatment doesn’t leave a residue, avoiding post-treatment cleaning and allowing your processing facility to begin operations quickly after the treatment has been completed and the gas has been cleared from the treatment area, said IFC. When utilized properly, chlorine dioxide can fully eliminate and offer a clean break from pathogen risk while allowing you to avoid long delays, the manufacturer said. It can be used as a solution for equipment, production rooms and entire facilities.
FSS

FSS’ DynamicIPM efficiently determines root causes of pest conditions in food facilities, the company said. According to FSS, the art of pest management is finding the root cause, treating the problem appropriately and preventing it from reoccurring. FSS said it allows technology to supply unadulterated data that guides its technicians on where to look.
FSS said its refined 3STM approach to transitioning food companies from analog to digital aims to ensure that a change in service provider does not include service interruptions or delays. The company said DynamicIPM is its approach to solving the most challenging pest problems and maintaining the quality of companies’ products, systems, facilities and people.
Insects Limited

Pheromone monitoring for stored product pests can be an essential part of a pest monitoring program within food facilities, said Insects Limited. Pheromone monitors give quality managers an early indication of when pest numbers are on the rise, and they indicate where the pests come from and indicate if control measures are working. Insects Limited and its Center for Stored Product Protection has recently come up with a solution to monitor food moths in tight spaces within equipment and beneath counters and shelving, the company said.
Pest Detective Food Moth Monitors from Insects Limited come ready-to-use in sets of 20 pre-formed traps that contain the sex pheromone for a multitude of food moth species like Indianmeal moth, almond moth, Mediterranean flour moth, raisin moth and tobacco moth. The back of the trapping system contains tacky adhesive that will adhere to the underside of counters and shelving, according to the manufacturer. This keeps the traps away from busy working areas or out of a visual sight line. The traps can also be placed on any flat surface and beneath equipment and can last up to 90 days.
Kness

The Pro-Ketch by Kness is a multiple-catch mousetrap that requires no bait or chemicals. The company said the Pro-Ketch leverages mice’s natural curiosity to keep them trapped with galvanized steel, making it an effective no-kill mousetrap.
Pro-Ketch parts go through a six-stage washer, degreaser, rinse and phosphatizing system for superior paint adhesion, Kness said. The powdered paint is applied with an electrostatic spray system that gives an even coat of paint, making it suitable for wash-down facilities.
Entrance tunnels strategically placed out of the way and off the floor of the trap help foster a clean environment, according to Kness. Plus, the pre-set framework significantly reduces service time, the company said.
Pro-Ketch is approved for use in USDA- and FDA-inspected facilities.
