Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. has introduced the Thermo Scientific POWERx, a new line of high-performance x-ray systems for the food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries. The POWERx line consists of 16 models for inspection of products ranging from small pharmaceutical glass vials to large, multi-package cases. Using high-resolution detectors and image-analysis software, the POWERx models include state-of-the-art X-ray design and image analysis capability to optimize sensitivity and detection probability while virtually eliminating false rejects; a wide range of models for upright and horizontal package orientations; remote-access hardware and software for support and service to facilitate quick problem resolution and minimize downtime; easy-to-use, extendable detection and inspection software addressable through an icon-based touchscreen HMI and powerful algorithms to detect foreign bodies and inspect multiple package attributes; x-ray based mass measurement software, enabling image-based checkweighing of uniform products in applications that do not require checkweigher compliance; IP 65 (NEMA 4X) dust and washdown compliance; and multilingual software and documentation to provide intuitive operation anywhere in the world. In addition, Virtual Contaminant Testing software is available to simulate various types, sizes and positions of contaminants for determination of best performance in each application.

IDAHO TECHNOLOGY INC.

Idaho Technology Inc., developer of pathogen identification systems, introduces a new Food Safety System, which includes the R.A.P.I.D. LT, a real-time PCR instrument, interpretive software and freeze-dried assays for Listeria, Salmonella, E. coli and Campylobacter. Providing results in less than 45 minutes, the system allows food producers to act quickly if there is a problem, and to continue processing food products faster, saving resources and cutting costs. The system is days faster than traditional testing methods and is easily adaptable to multiple food sample matrices.

Safeline

Mettler-Toledo Safeline Inc., a metal detection and x-ray inspection equipment supplier, introduces the PowerPhasePRO metal detector. The PowerPhasePRO is available in two- and three-frequency models and detects ferrous, non-ferrous and stainless steel contaminants up to 40% smaller than any other metal detector, the company says. Its unique product clustering feature allows a range of products to be run through the machine without the need to change settings, while maintaining high-performance detection standards. When a new product is initiated down the line, it is automatically recognized and the machine continues normal operation – ensuring no false rejects. The detector provides one-pass automatic product set-up within five seconds. The full-color, operator-intuitive LCD touch screen enables condition monitoring from more than 12 feet away. Ethernet connectivity allows for remote monitoring and operation as well as access to machine-generated detailed statistical records and analysis. The PowerPhasePRO is rated to IP69K standards (exceeds NEMA 4X) for high-pressure, high washdown environments, and is also available in white-painted case for non-washdown applications.

WHITMIRE MICRO-GEN
