Buehler
Buehler’s new CarbiMet 2 silicon carbide (SiC) abrasive papers increase material removal rates up to 20 percent compared to original CarbiMet. Increased material removal rates reduce total procedure time. On average, CarbiMet 2 removes 75 percent of all material within the first 60 seconds of use. CarbiMet 2 exhibits minimal material deformation, provides a consistent scratch pattern and features a water-resistant premium C weight paper. Although SiC papers have an effective grinding life of two to three minutes, CarbiMet 2 can maintain its paper integrity for up to 100 minutes in durability tests conducted by Buehler’s materials analysis lab. Manufactured in an ISO 14001/2004 certified facility, CarbiMet 2 is produced with less pollution, in part due to the plant’s water and air recycling system and its environmentally friendly resin bond. Applications include dry and wet grinding and polishing of ferrous and non-ferrous materials, including stainless steel, titanium, copper, aluminum and printed wired boards.

ITW Dymon
The Dykem Safe-Mark All-Purpose Marker, manufactured by ITW Dymon, has been tested and certified by NSF International for use on food contact surfaces. The permanent ink marker is the first to meet the NSF registration guidelines for Proprietary Substances and Nonfood Compounds, making the product "acceptable as a coating for use on food contact surfaces used in processing, transporting or holding food products" per NSF Category Code R1. The Safe-Mark marker uses a patent-pending ink formula to permanently label storage bins, trays, machinery parts and other equipment where food products, including meat and poultry, are in repeated or continuous contact. The quick-drying black ink is safe and effective on a wide range of surfaces including metal, glass, plastic, shrink film, cardboard and rubber. The marker incorporates several safety features including a locked nib design to prevent the marking tip from falling out and a threaded barrel to secure the cap during use. For stamping and stenciling work, Safe-Mark ink is also available in gallon containers. For more information, contact ITW Dymon Customer Service at cservice@dymon.com or 800-443-9536.

Life Technologies
Life Technologies’ Applied Biosystems MicroSEQ Salmonella spp. Detection Kit has been validated by the AOAC Research Institute for detection of Salmonella. This validation is expected to enable more effective monitoring of the food supply for Salmonella contamination. The MicroSEQ detection kit has been validated by the AOAC Research Institute for use with 11 different food sample types, and for high and low-throughput testing workflows. The kit is part of a pathogen detection workflow based on proven Applied Biosystems technology, and op-
timized for use with the Applied Biosystems 7500 Fast Real-Time PCR System. The rapid pathogen detection workflow requires only small amounts of sample to ensure detection of Salmonella in less than 18 hours. It includes options for low- and high-throughput sample preparation and streamlined data analysis software. Use of the kit is simplified by an innovation combining fast real-time PCR-based molecular technology in a lyophilized format.

Extech Instruments
Extech Instruments, makers of handheld test and measurement tools, has introduced EX845, a 1000A AC/DC CAT IV clamp meter with Meterlink technology and a built-in infrared thermometer. Meterlink wirelessly connects FLIR infrared cameras to Extech meters via Bluetooth to accelerate and simplify inspections. During infrared inspections of electrical components, users can transmit key electrical readings such as current or voltage from an Extech EX845 clamp meter directly to a FLIR infrared camera. Meterlink instantly imprints the electrical readings onto a related infrared image for time savings and accurate, coordinated documentation for PdM inspection reports. The EX845 has a CAT IV-600V, CAT III-1000V overvoltage safety rating and is CE and ETL approved and NIST certification is available. The meter comes complete with an 8-piece professional test lead set, a 9V battery, Type K temperature probe, and a belt holster.
