Deibel Laboratories was founded in Madison, Wisc., by Dr. Robert Deibel — a professor in the bacteriology department at Cornell University, chair of the Department of Bacteriology at the University of Wisconsin and former head of the Food Research Institute. Dr. Deibel’s son, C.T. Deibel, graduated from the University of Florida in 1997 and started working in Deibel’s Chicago laboratory. C.T. became president in 2005 and defined the Deibel guiding principles of quality, service, transparency, professionalism, partnership and education. C.T. became CEO in 2020. Deibel Laboratories currently employs nearly 500 associates in 16 laboratories across North America. Under C.T.’s leadership, Deibel Laboratories has expanded its microbiology and analytical chemistry testing services, food safety training courses, environmental monitoring software and custom advisory and consulting services to fully support its clients’ needs from concept to consumer.
