Subodh Das, Ph.D., is a globally recognized serial entrepreneur in industrial, academic and technology-based companies and founder and manager of several aluminum research consortia involving multidisciplinary collaborations among industry, universities and U.S. national laboratories. He is also an inventor (20 U.S. patents), researcher, technology visionary, thought leader, subject matter expert and consultant to the global metals (aluminum, magnesium, titanium and rare earth elements), specializing in aluminum technology development and commercialization for recycling, scrap processing, manufacturing and new product and process developments. He is well-connected in the entire aluminum supply chain from “mine to market” with special emphasis on leading manufacturing, research and development teams toward commercial implementation. He also serves on the DOE Industrial Technology Innovation Advisory Committee (ITIAC), reporting to the US Secretary of Energy. As a 45-plus-year veteran, Dr. Das has worked in manufacturing (25 years including Alcoa and Logan Aluminum/Tri-Arrows), academic (8 years at The University of Kentucky, Lexington, Kentucky), and entrepreneurial (12 years forming six research consortia and companies) settings.
