SILVER SPRING, Md. — In a post on the Food and Drug Administration's website, Frank Yiannas, the agency's deputy commissioner for food policy and response, reflects on the last year of food safety.
Yiannas acknowledges the Food Safety Modernization Act's 10-year anniversary, as well as highlighting updates to the act, including the publishing of the proposed rule to establish revised standards for agricultural water and the issuance of the final laboratory accreditation rule to improve the accuracy and reliability of certain food testing.
Yiannas also wrote about the New Era of Smarter Food Safety, thinking outside the box when it comes to food safety, the safety of ordering food online and the role of food safety culture.
