SOUTH ELGIN, Ill. — McCloud Services has been named the 2014 recipient of the prestigious Century Award presented by Loyola University Chicago’s Quinlan School of Business.  The award recognizes outstanding family-owned businesses, in operation for 100 years or more.  Celebrating its 110 anniversary, and four generations of family ownership and leadership, the company was recognized for its strong multi-generational involvement, economic flexibility and ability to innovate and stay relevant through changing times.

Founded in 1904 by William Bailey McCloud as a manufacturer and distributor of livestock insecticides for use in Chicago stockyards, the company has grown to become the 32nd largest pest management company in the nation and serves an eleven-state region, with five service centers in Illinois and over 50% of its 180 employees residing in the state.

Currently lead by president and CEO Chris McCloud, the company works with some of the nation’s largest food-related brands and has earned a reputation as  food protection experts – protecting the businesses, brands and reputations of the entire food supply chain of custody.  The company continues to adapt and spearhead the pest control industry when it comes to changing technologies such as electronic documentation, and provides innovative alternatives to traditional pesticides.

As additional challenges present themselves in family businesses, McCloud has maintained a strong philosophical alignment in regard to how its business is operated.  The family relationships remain strong, and allow for a healthy degree of autonomy.
