Pestroniks Innovations of Singapore announced the addition of the FLYght Duo Insect Light Trap (ILT).
The trap uses patented bioVE+ technology to mimic the visual cues of carnivorous plants to attract insects.. UV LEDs combined with bioVE+ elicit a strong positive phototactic response in flies. The bioVE+ coating in each FLYght trap makes it perform similarly to ILTs with UV tubes, the manufacturer reports.
FLYght delivers 70-80% savings on power consumption as two tube ILTs use 30 W and three tube ILTs use 45W of power, whereas FLYght LEDs need only 9W power for lighting up, according to Pestroniks. The FLYght Duo has a sturdy aluminum shell, weighs 3.85 pound, works with standard Universal glue boards, and its UV LEDs last more than 50,000 hours.
Carl Baptista, Pestroniks MD, says: “With the pandemic affecting them since 2020, end-users are looking for energy-efficient fly monitoring solutions. FLYght traps meet such customer requirements by saving customers money through lower power costs to offset the units’ prices.”
