VALLEY VIEW, Ohio — The idea of creating a nationally integrated food safety system began with scribbles on a cocktail napkin at a lounge called Studebaker’s in Rockville, Md., 25 years ago.

Quality Assurance & Food Safety magazine is partnering with the Association of Food & Drug Officials on a webinar series looking into the origin of the efforts to develop a nationally integrated food safety system.

The final session in the three-part series is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 28, from 1-2 p.m. EST and will feature discussion on FSMA and mutual reliance, including thoughts from state food program managers. Register here: events.qualityassurancemag.com.

In part one of the series, the speakers discussed the vision and early hurdles for a nationally integrated food safety system. During part two, speakers discussed the early planning of a national food safety system, single food agency legislation and the Partnership for Food Protection.
