Clark services a facility in the Stockton area that manufactures animal feed, that is a large facility with some serious challenges in the area of sanitation and operations. The client had a national pest control vendor conducting services for them for a few years and by the rodent problem found, their previous pest control program was not working.
Clark started by addressing the sanitation issues with the client and showed the reason to clean product spills and ensure no open product was available for the rodents to feed on. The service was structured as interior devices three times a week with exterior services twice a week for 6 weeks. The client agreed that if they don’t do their part and clean the extreme measures would continue and the cost of the program would mount. With the client participating in the program the services were scaled back to exterior twice a month and interior to twice a week for 6 weeks. We then scaled back to exterior once a month and interior once a week. During the first 12 weeks we caught over 350 mice and 90 rats.
It has been over a year since we set the normal program in place and we have caught about 30 mice and 24 rats. We did however find a nesting area outside during a night inspection and that was the main source of the rat population. The technician has to remind the client every now and again that if they don’t clean the price will go up as we will need to do extra servicers. Clients buy in is vital and make or break your system, it is very important to show value and reason for doing what we do.
