Organic food processors and handlers in need of a surface sanitizer without quaternary ammonium (quat) now have a product for cleaning and sanitizing food contact and non-food contact surfaces in their facilities. Originally released in 2017, Alpet D2 Quat-Free Surface Sanitizer has now been approved under the Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA) Organic Food Program. Best Sanitizers Inc.’s Alpet D2 Quat-Free Surface Sanitizer is an effective cleaner and sanitizer for hard, non-porous surfaces and can be used throughout the entire processing plant, the company said. The WSDA Organic Program is accredited as a certification agent by USDA. Its main role is to inspect and certify organic operations and verify that facilities are meeting requirements of USDA organic standards.
Alpet D2 Quat-Free Surface Sanitizer is ready-to-use, requires no rinse, leaves no unsightly residue, and has fast kill times, the company said, adding that it is highly evaporative and ideal for water-sensitive equipment and dry processing environments. On pre-cleaned food contact surfaces including non-porous waterproof gloves, Alpet D2 Quat-Free Surface Sanitizer kills 99.999% of eight pathogens in 60 seconds, including Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Escherichia coli O157:H7, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella typhimurium, Listeria monocytogenes, Enterobacter sakazakii and Vibrio cholerae, the company said. Alpet D2 Quat-Free Surface Sanitizer kills 99.9% of tested bacteria in 10 seconds on pre-cleaned, non-food contact surfaces, including non-porous waterproof footwear, it added. It is NSF listed, and Kosher, Pareve and Halal certified.
“This unique surface sanitizer provides processors who can’t use quat with an effective tool in the fight against cross-contamination,” said Vice President of Sales and Marketing Ryan Witt. “Now that Alpet D2 Quat-Free Surface Sanitizer is approved under WSDA Organic Program, even more facilities will have access to a surface sanitizer that will fit their plant’s specific needs.”
The sanitizer is available in one-quart bottles with trigger sprayers, five-gallon pails, five-gallon pails with insert and dip tube to fit Best Sanitizers’ footwear sanitizing units, and 50-gallon drums. Food processors in the U.S and Canada can request a free sample of Alpet D2 Quat-free. For more information, visit www.bestsanitizers.com or call 888-225-3267
