Nunda, N.Y.-based Once Again Nut Butter has moved all its peanut butter production to a new SQF Level 3-certified, 37,000-square-foot facility. The move is designed to prevent the cross contamination of allergens and make the company’s products even safer for its consumers with special dietary needs, the company said. The new facility also increases its annual peanut butter production capacity along with its almond and cashew butter production.
Designed by Once Again’s employee-owners for ultimate efficiency, the state-of-the-art, peanut butter facility was originally opened in 2016. This year, a new jar line was installed to complete the transition. Tree nut and seed butters are still produced in dedicated rooms at the company’s main headquarters, the Potter Thaler building, which is down the street from the new plant. In the near future, all of Once Again tree nut and seed butter labels will indicate its butters are “made in a peanut butter-free facility,” the company said
“I couldn’t be prouder of the incredible steps taken to deliver our customers great tasting products that reduce cross-contamination possibilities,” said Marketing Communication and PR Manager Shared Gael Orr. “Both the new peanut butter facility and all the dedicated areas for tree nut and seed butters in our original facility are incredibly pristine. We take allergen control very seriously and keeping our peanut, tree nut and seed butters separate is a huge part of that. In addition, the manufacturing flexibility the new peanut butter plant gives us is wonderful, and we’re excited for what the future holds because of this initiative.”

Founded in 1976 by a husband-and-wife team, employee-owned Once Again Nut Butter Collective, Inc., has grown from a company run out of an 800-square-foot basement into a business that produces millions of pounds of organic and natural nut and seed butters. In 2016, Once Again expanded into a new SQF Level 3 Certified, 37,000 square-foot facility in rural upstate New York where it now produces its peanut butters. The company’s tree nut and seed butters are produced in a separate facility.
Recognized as a leader in ethical and sustainable business practices, the company founded its Honest In Trade program to define the team’s efforts and take them to the next level. In addition to their support of farmers in underdeveloped countries, initiatives to protect the environment, and unsurpassed safety and quality standards, the 86 employees also actively support its community and non-profit organizations. The brand’s mascot, Rocky-Roo the raccoon, symbolizes its wholesome nature and responsibility to the earth and their products. Once Again Nut Butter’s product offerings include new Amoré spreads, along with organic and natural peanut, almond, cashew and seed butters, and honey for retail and foodservice customers.
