
In response to the challenges regulatory professionals are facing amid budget cuts and uncertainty, the Association of Food and Drug Officials (AFDO) is launching a webinar series, Striving & Surviving, designed to provide practical strategies, expert insights and actionable solutions to help professionals navigate this difficult time.
Sessions will focus on areas such as navigating a reduced budget, finding process improvements capable of making your department more efficient, restoring a sense of resilience in the face of unpredictability and leading through change. AFDO said the series will cover new topics as they evolve.
“Best Practices for Handling Budget Cuts to Food Safety Programs,” the first webinar in the series, is scheduled for Wednesday, March 5, from noon to 1:15 p.m. ET.
AFDO has developed specific guidance designed to help food program managers prepare for the loss of grant funds, including determining strategies, evaluating resources and determining how those resources are allocated to help avoid staff layoffs.
Presenters include Pat Kennelly, program director, AFDO; Katherine Simon, Minnesota Department of Agriculture and Feed Safety; Steve Moris, assistant program director, AFDO; and Steve Mandernach, executive director, AFDO.
“Leading Through Change: Strategies for Navigating Uncertainty in Public Service” is scheduled for Thursday, March 6, from noon to 1:15 p.m. ET.
This webinar will explore strategies for navigating change with confidence and resilience. Designed for government professionals, this session will provide insights on managing transitions, maintaining a steady course amid uncertainty and fostering a mindset that supports both personal and organizational success.
Jennifer Douglas, chief innovation and technology officer, city of Boulder, will present.
“Holding Steady: How to Lean Into Resilience” is scheduled for Wednesday, March 12, from noon to 1:15 p.m. ET.
This session will share ways to foster emotional resilience, empathy and open communication. Through real-life examples and hands-on activities, the webinar will explore how to build trust, support personal well-being and cultivate a culture of compassion amid change.
