The Peanut and Tree Nut Processors Association (PTNPA) announced the release of the fifth edition of “The Handbook for the Safe Handling and Processing of Nuts (Handbook).” This latest edition features updated chapters on allergen preventive controls and traceability as well as a new chapter focusing on best practices for importers and exporters.
The handbook serves as a comprehensive tool for onboarding, training, implementation and continuous reference for compliance and industry advancement, said PTNPA.
"PTNPA is dedicated to making ‘The Handbook for the Safe Handling and Processing of Nuts’ a valued resource accessible to any and all food industry companies and regulatory entities including FDA and USDA,” said Jeannie Shaughnessy, CEO, PTNPA. “It is crucial to have open access to this comprehensive guide with a common commitment to food safety. Offering widespread availability helps promote a culture of safety and excellence across the entire nut industry.”
The PTNPA extends its appreciation to the 2024 Handbook Task Force and its affiliated PTNPA member organizations at the time of the latest update highlighted within the handbook. These industry professionals volunteered their expertise and countless hours to provide valuable contributions, sharing the latest industry insights, practices and information with the food industry and other stakeholders, said PTNPA.
